I love libraries. I love how they connect people with their past, present and future, ignite each person with individual passions, and drench us with a flood of words, wonders, and wonderings.
One of my earliest memories was going to our local library, then in the basement of the County Courthouse, holding my mom's hand and picking out JUST the right book and checking it out. The smell of the library, the hushed reverence that was found there and in church has always helped me find myself and become more of who I really am.
Every place I travel, I seek out the local library. I want to share my library love with y'all!
Here's today's spotlight on Libraries: Murrayville Library, located just off Hwy 129 north.
It is a one of 5 libraries in the Hall County system, part of the Georgia Pines system. It is a smaller, somewhat hidden, library, tucked in behind Lanier Elementary School.
What makes this library unique?
-The Children's collection: for such a small library, it's most popular items are Easy Read Children's books and Young Adult books. Videos are also a popular item checked out.
-Computers: it has about a dozen computers that can be used by the public, in addition to free public wifi, too.
It is a sweet library that is a reflection of the community; it offers 2 comfy sitting areas to relax and read. It provides small meeting rooms and one larger conference room that can be reserved.
Reviews:
Patrons say that they love the location as well as the friendliness of the staff.
They also enjoy the many programs for the community, like a local knitting group, children's story times and crafts for all ages. During summer, they often have over 100 patrons a day.
Families love it because this little library doesn't only give you access to books, movies, internet, audiobooks, magazine, digital downloads, but they also give you opportunities to get out and explore Georgia in many different ways!
All you have to have is a library card, which you can get for FREE! What a deal!
